TITLE
Optimization of Next-Generation Communication Protocols in Content Delivery Networks
ABSTRACT
With the surge in internet traffic, Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) urgently need performance enhancements. New communication protocols like HTTP/3 and QUIC, known for reducing latency and improving efficiency, are key to optimizing CDNs.
This talk presents our measurement study on the deployment, compatibility, and performance of HTTP/3 in CDNs. We then introduce Polygon, a QUIC-based CDN server selection system. By customizing QUIC to transmit fine-grained resource demands and leveraging its fast connection establishment and migration features, Polygon achieves low-latency routing and precise server selection, significantly enhancing CDN performance and resource utilization. Finally, we explore the application prospects of HTTP/3 and QUIC in vehicular networks and green computing.
